The dose is the poison: Why Quant Matters

Both PA Groundhogs and its lab partner the CFSRE believe firmly that only quantitative drug checking---which measures the pure form of  each psychoactive substance in a given sample – is critical for understanding the evolving nature of the drug supply.  Without quant data, which is calculated using mass/percent and represented as a percent figure, it’s impossible to determine the potency of a particular sample, show change over time, or ascertain how dangerous the drug supply is in a certain time and place. Unlike many other labs, the CFSRE holds a DEA Schedule I license that permits it to accept whole drug samples—necessary for running quant—as well as reference material for calibrating our state of the art machines. When P.A.G. launched in 2023 there were only nine substances on this list. Today there are 29. We continue to strive to  to grow our list of quantifiable substances; expect more as we grow.
